This is only a fraction of the issues the world is facing. This is not to say that Muslim’s are only facing hardship, I am simply trying to raise awareness about these specific countries. This post doesn’t cover all of it. Our brothers and sisters in Syria, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Albania, Kurdistan and so many more are still suffering. ⁣These are beautiful countries that are masked by war and famine.

All I hope from each of you is that you learn something new each day. If you’re reading this right now it is likely you come from a place of privilege. Use that privilege to educate yourself and stay informed on the issues this world is facing today. ⁣

omg okay I’m so tired of this but for the past few days Israel has been indiscriminately bombing Gaza and it’s the start of Ramadan. They’re targeting residential buildings and they also destroyed a number of libraries in Gaza, destroying with them thousands of books.thats obviously not to mention the number of people who died bc of this lol. I’m seeing a lot of people on twitter justifying this by saying “well hamas started the bombing” well first of all, before any rockets were fired, four Palestinians were killed. Funny how the “self defense” excuse only works when we’re not talking about the occupied? This is not my point—I am not defending hamas at all, infact, a lot of the Palestinians I know do not align themselves with hamas at all, me included. Even if hamas fired rockets out of the blue this time, colonized people use violent means of resistance against the state violence they have to endure everyday and It’s just so funny to me how people are fooled into thinking this resistance justifies israel’s collective punishment on gazawis. Like people really say things like this and think they’ve made a point. Like of course there’s no justification for bombing and killing innocent Israeli citizens but COME ON. Justifying this with “hamas fired rockets first” like… colonized people are going to do whatever is necessary to fight against state violence (reminder that I hate hamas) and like… saying shit like that is basically you telling colonized people to just shut up and accept this extermination and that any resistance to this will only justify the extermination

If y’all wanna know the true power of hate, just remember that Alan Turing, the breaker of the enigma code in WWII, was driven to suicide by being forced to undergo chemical castration as a punishment for his homosexuality.

Historians say he saved 14 to 21 million lives.

I’d also like to say in the time we studied WWII in school, the history textbooks never mentioned him. I had never heard of the guy until I watched “The Imitation Game” which I 110% recommend you watch if you haven’t.Alan Turing was a blessing to humanity who saved (once again) 14 to 21 million lives, and he is left out of history because he was gay.

And this is just one example?? So many brilliant and heroic people are left out of history because of their race, their gender, their sexuality, their religion, and it’s just because some bigots in positions of influence get to decide what parts of history are remembered.

This man has had a profound effect on the world, it’s estimated he shortened the war by 2 years, saved countless lives and was the father of modern computing. Without him the world would be a very different, and very dark place.

He wasn’t just chemically castrated. The injections they have him were intended to decrease his libido as part his sentence for “gross indecency”. About 2 years after his trial he was found dead in his apartment next to a half eaten apple that was filled with cyanide (which became the inspiration for the Apple logo).

Turing is one of the most amazing people in all of history. He developed our modern method of computing (see: the Turing Machine) and advanced computer science by immeasurable amounts. And he dies when he was 41. Just imagine if he lived in a world where he was accepted. Imagine the technology we would have today and how many more lives would have been saved. No person deserves what Turing got, especially not someone as brilliant as him.

TEACH. CHILDREN. ABOUT. ALAN. TURING! WHEN THEY LEARN ABOUT WWII, THEY DESERVE TO KNOW ABOUT THE MAN WHO ENDED IT!!!

Listen, I’m gay, so I’d LOVE for the Apple logo to be based off this man, but it’s not true. A simple google search proves this wrong. The “rainbow” on the Apple isn’t the LGBT flag but the colour processors/bars that the computer can show and display colour. The Apple logo with a bite is there for two reasons: scale and to make sure people didn’t think it was a cherry.

Misinformation is toxic and doesn’t help anyone in the end. While Alan Turning is a great man and should be rewarded and remembered, we cannot be putting false stories behind his name, as it will tarnish the rest.

man the crazy thing about babies is that like, some people would think that reading a baby a book about farm animals is teaching them about farm animals, but really it’s teaching them about the concept of a book and how there’s new information on each page of a single object, but really, beyond that, it’s teaching them how language works, and beyond that it’s really actually teaching them about human interaction, and really really it’s them learning about existing in a three-dimensional space and how they can navigate that space, but actually, above all it is teaching them that mama loves them.
